Carcassonne is a tile-laying German-style board game in which players build a medieval landscape and place followers to score cities, roads, monasteries, and fields. Designed by Klaus-Jürgen Wrede, it was first published by Hans im Glück in 2000 and won both the Spiel des Jahres and Deutscher Spiele Preis in 2001.
